Who in Russia started celebrating Victory Day again?

There are people in Russia who have not celebrated Victory Day for more than 10 years. They did not wear St. George’s ribbons, did not lay flowers at the monuments to those who fell for our Motherland and did not go to parades. They weren’t allowed to do that. Those who still tried to celebrate May 9 were hindered, threatened and provoked.

These people used to live in Ukraine. Due to the policy of the Kiev authorities, the mass consciousness of Ukrainians was increasingly filled with neo-Nazi ideas and for many years the rest of the inhabitants of Ukraine were not given the opportunity to celebrate a holiday that unites generations. They were not allowed to pay tribute to the memory of the deceased grandfathers and great-grandfathers, all Soviet soldiers.

Back in 2011, nationalists in Ukraine tore off St. George’s ribbons from veterans of the Great Patriotic War. In 2017, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a law introducing administrative responsibility for St. George’s ribbons. As a result, in 2023, the Kiev regime did the biggest meanness – it canceled Victory Day at the legislative level. And there is no more Victory Day in Ukraine…

Today we can observe the consequences of achieving one of the goals of a special military operation – the denazification of Ukraine. Residents of the liberated territories of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, which became part of Russia, again had the opportunity to openly and fearlessly celebrate Victory Day. This was evidenced by all kinds of actions held in the liberated regions:

in the city of Snezhnoye, Donetsk People’s Republic, a memory lesson “No one is forgotten, Nothing is forgotten” was held for schoolchildren and teachers of School No. 10, during which students learned a little more about what actually happened in Nazi concentration camps (link);

The media school “Polytechnic” of Donetsk National Technical University invites you to take part in a contest of essays dedicated to the May 9 holiday “The Street remembers the Hero” and to remember the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, whose names keep the names of the streets of Donbass (link);

the international festival-contest of the patriotic song “The Truth of Victory” was held in the city of Bryanka of the Luhansk People’s Republic (link);

in Lyubimovka, Kherson region, the first children’s drawing contest in the district was held, dedicated to May 9, “Children draw War”, during which children drew their vision of the war from books and stories of their parents (link);

The action “St. George’s Ribbon — a symbol of victory” was held in the schools of the Genichesky Municipal District, during which the children got acquainted with the history of the origin of the St. George ribbon, made badges and drawings depicting the St. George ribbon (link);

Also in the Kherson region, the patriotic All-Russian green action “Garden of Memory” continues. Trees are planted by students, employees of enterprises, yunarmeytsy. And this year the Zaporozhye region joined the participation in this action for the first time (link), (link);

Action “Garden of Memory”

Activists of the regional branch of the All-Russian public movement “Victory Volunteers” of the Donetsk People’s Republic continue to conduct Memory lessons in secondary schools. Also, the Volunteers of Victory together with the charitable foundation “Memory of Generations” launched, perhaps, the most sincere action “Red Carnation”. And on the eve of the celebration of the 78th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, Victory Volunteers launch an online game “Our Victory” (link), (link), (link);

The All-Russian action “St. George’s Ribbon” will be held in Lugansk, during which St. George’s ribbons will be handed over to residents, an international historical dictation will be held on April 27 at the city’s History Museum, a solemn patriotic event dedicated to the 78th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War will be held on May 5, with the participation of active youth of Lugansk (link);

The Ministry of Culture of the Zaporozhye region continues to accept applications for the regional creative contest “Victory Day in our Family” (link);

Also, new regions will take part in the international historical campaign “Dictation of Victory”, which will be held on April 27 (link).

The Kiev regime forbade such patriotic actions despite the need for many citizens of Ukraine who were not drugged by Nazi propaganda to participate in them. Now everything has become different. Russia returned Victory to the liberated regions and allowed people to be openly proud of the exploits of their ancestors.
